Primary Purpose:
CCMASA is seeking an enthusiastic Youth Worker with primary responsibilities to provide leadership, guidance and spiritual mentorship to high school students and youth leaders within our church community. The successful applicant would work closely with the youth ministry team and church leaders to create a nurturing and engaging environment that facilitates discipleship of the youth and youth leaders into a genuine relationship with Jesus.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a baptised believer, hold to a Christian faith and be committed to personal growth through scripture, prayer and fellowship
- Alignment with the doctrinal statement and mission of the church - see What We Believe — CCMA
- Alignment with the mission and vision of the youth ministry
- Guide and support youth leaders to live out the CCMA Youth Leadership Covenant
- Valid SA (WWCC) Working with Children Checks
- Current Full Driver's License.
Desired Qualities:
- Exemplifies qualities of a leader outlined in scripture (1 Peter 5:2-4, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-10)
- Passion for youth and young people
- Qualifications in Ministry, Theology, or a related discipline (working towards or currently holding)
- Experience working with youth
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Has an understanding of Asian-Australian culture
- Willingness to undertake further training and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate CCMA Youth: Plan and coordinate Friday night youth group activities across the four school terms including talks, discussion groups, worship, prayer, games and outreach activities. Coordinate team meetings for vision planning, rostering and reflection.
- Prepare Theologically Sound Teaching: Preparing material for small groups and talks that are relevant to youth.
- Manage and lead CCMA Youth Ministry Team: Provide leadership to a team of youth leaders, with a focus on spiritual growth and discipleship to empower them in their personal walks with Christ and to effectively contribute to the youth ministry.
- Identify and Mentor Youth Leaders: Recognize potential youth leaders within the church and facilitate guidance and discipleship.
- Contribute to the Growth of Youth Ministry: Support spiritual growth of current youth members and implement strategies to attract new youth members.
- Liaise with Church Leadership: Provide regular updates and reports as required to church leadership. Escalate any significant concerns to the deacon board.
- Awareness of church and government policies: Ensure that all activities are within safe church guidelines and members of the leadership team meet necessary requirements.
Working Hours:
This position is part-time casual, requiring approximately 16 hours of work per week. The specific schedule will be determined in consultation with the church leadership.
Location:
The church is located in Cowandilla, and most of the work will be conducted on-site, with occasional off-site events and activities. The planning portion of the role can be flexible in location.
