In addition, you will be collaborating closely with other Primary Care teams across the hospitals of NSLHD, with Palliative Care services and with NSLHD Community Nursing services, as well as with primary care providers, to co-ordinate the care of patients with complex Chronic Pain, especially those linked with procedural pain services delivered by PMRC and those with life limiting conditions.What you'll be doingProvide a Chronic Pain Liaison service across the NSLHD to improve clinical links and referral pathways to the RNSH outpatient Chronic Pain service.The role has a particular emphasis on co-ordinating the care of patients with complex pain in the setting of life-limiting conditions approaching their end of life.The role requires facilitation of multidisciplinary discussion and care of palliative patients requiring interventional pain techniques including those for intrathecal infusions, either for analgesia or spasticity management.People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum seven years full time post graduate experience with 5 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification and/or Masters level relevant to the specialty or evidence of working towards same in identified area of specialty.
- Experience providing support for Chronic Pain patients undergoing procedural interventions including neuro ablative procedures and intrathecal infusions.
- Familiarity with intrathecal medication management, including baclofen and analgesics.
- Demonstrated involvement in ethics approved clinically relevant research and Quality Improvement activities related to procedural pain interventions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for pain self-management.
