Due to the growth in our student numbers, we are expanding our academic team. The Lecturer in Information Technology (internally known as a Learning Facilitator) is an academic role involving teaching (on-campus and online), scholarship and research including the potential to supervise PhD candidates. Extra non-teaching responsibilities such as the management or leadership of subjects or courses may be allocated based on course needs and the incumbent’s individual skills, expertise and development.The position is responsible for preparing, delivering and assessing subjects as allocated. This position works to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. It also participates in course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities and appointees are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours.You can read more about the role in the job description:Day-to-day accountabilities:Deliver lectures, seminars, forums, workshops/practical sessions and tutorials, both online and on campus using innovative learning and teaching practicesPrepare, review and update teaching materials as identified by the Program Director or in response to quality measuresDraft, review and update assessment tools, set and mark assessments and examination papers where neededConduct student assessment and ensure academic processes are adhered to assess student submissions throughout the study period providing good quality feedback in keeping with policyDetermine the final result for each student and submit the results to the Program Director in the required format by the results deadline in preparation for the exam committeeParticipate in validation and moderation activities as requested by the Program DirectorIdentify students who are at risk of failing a subject, whether for personal or academic reasons, and make the appropriate referral to Program Director, Success Coach, Language/Academic Skills support staffWe are looking to fill two full time permanent roles, one based in Sydney (Ultimo Campus), one based in Melbourne (Flinders Campus). Both role offer hybrid work environment. Whilst we offer flexible working arrangement, this is not a remote role.Who you are
To be successful in this role you will have:Preferably a PhD in Information Technology or related fields. A Masters qualification is the minimum requirement.Demonstrated relevant industry experience.A demonstrated track record of high-quality teaching in IT or related field.A demonstrated commitment to work collaboratively in a team environmentA commitment to personal growth and continuous professional development.A high service ethos towards students to support their learning.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Why join us?
