Salary Grade 6 $59,293 to $67,978 per annum, (dependent upon experience), plus 11% Superannuation.
About Strathfield Council
Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.
About the Role
The Civic Space Maintenance Team Member participates in tasks relating to the Civic Maintenance Team and assist in enforcing a range of regulations and legislation to improve the amenities and facilities within the local government area.
You’ll also be responsible for:
Patrolling the Municipality, open spaces, and other Council properties within the local government area to: Identify, report/record and remove graffiti within the LGA.
- Identify and arrange removal of unauthorized signage and structures on public land.
- Report irregularities in signposting, damaged / faulty Council assets
- Identify and prevent unauthorized use of Council facilities (eg, sports grounds)
- Basic repairs resulting from un-programmed, absenteeism, urgent requests, or emergency situations, or make safe, open space infrastructure vandalised or damaged including buildings, furniture, seats, BBQ’s, toilets, irrigations systems, taps, signs, poles, windows, fences, playground equipment, concrete & asphalt surfaces, footpaths, driveways, etc.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and for all Civic Space Maintenance Team activities including graffiti register, playground repairs and maintenance undertaken.
- Keeping Council vehicles and equipment secure, clean, and accounted for at all times.
- Undertaking other duties within the scope of this role as directed by the Civic Space Maintenance Team Leader.
About You
- Current MR (Medium Rigid) Driver licence
- Hold SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Cards - Traffic Controller and/ or Implement Traffic Control Plans (Desirable)
- Current Chemical User accreditation.
- Proven capacity to work in a team environment.
- Have and maintain a level of physical fitness to carry out the demands of the role.
- Basic organisational and planning skills together with the ability to prioritise work to meet the demands of the position within competing timeframes.
- Ability to identify and implement creative solutions and improvements in the operational activities.
- Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills including demonstrated ability in managing conflict and dealing with difficult customers.
- Basic computing skills with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to quality customer service.
