Sun Metals is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Maintenance and Engineering Department. You will have technical experience in planning and designing civil maintenance and project works and the ability to manage tasks from scope through to closure.
You will be involved in a broad range of duties from minor works to liaising on major projects, as well as organising and coordinating contractors and internal resources to complete projects on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities will include:
- In consultation with consultants and internal customers, develop proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, construction plans and drawings for plant modifications and new projects.
- Develop tender documentation and work in conjunction with the Procurement team to manage the tendering process for new civil project works.
- Plan and coordinate civil maintenance works including raise and close work orders, develop scopes of works, cost estimates, timelines etc.
- Provide engineering, design and technical advice where required.
- Maintain plant infrastructure, roads and civil and structural facilities to a standard of maximum efficiency.
- Site supervise project works with emphasis on safety, compliance to site procedures, quality, cost and accuracy of work.
- Provide regular reports to Maintenance Superintendent on site activities, job progress, cost variances and issues.
- Coordinate with government departments to obtain permits for new works and comply with reporting requirements.
- Issue excavation permits.
- Promote a safe working environment, investigate and complete any incidents and corrective actions in agreed timeframes.
- Promote a positive Company image among consultants, contractors and the local community.
You will meet the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
- A minimum of three years post-graduate experience.
- Eligible to receive RPEQ Status or ability to attain RPEQ soon after commencement.
- Experience within a refinery or processing plant is desired.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks with varying levels of priority.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office package, particularly Excel and Word.
- Proficient in the use of a CMMS. (JD Edwards would be an advantage.)
