Currently, we are seeking a Project Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. Smart Nine is a trusted provider of engineering services, actively involved in multiple large and complex civil engineering projects across the country. With extensive experience and technical expertise, we ensure top-notch performance and deliver exceptional results.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Due to company expansion, we are seeking to appoint a Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager to join our high-performance team based in Brisbane on a full-time capacity. The successful applicant will join a diverse, innovative and culture-focused team.
Reporting to the Project Manager or interfacing with the Client directly, the Project Engineer will support the successful achievement of project objectives whilst providing engineering expertise to the wider project team.
The role requires a dedicated, process driven individual who has great knowledge in a wide range of civil construction disciplines and the operation and maintenance of major projects.

ABOUT YOU
- Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering) or (Mechanical Engineering) or related discipline
- Minimum of five years site experience
- RPEQ preferrable
- Strong demonstratable written and technical skills
- Clear familiarity with standard design software, including AutoCad
- Intermediate P6 or project planning skills essential
- Ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts and overcome challenges
- Ability to resolve complex design issues under time and commercial pressures
- Confident presentation
- An excellent communicator who can deliver complex and technical information in a simple and graspable format, to a wide range of audiences
- Able to create a culture of inclusivity and support to colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to a Smart Nine Project Manager, your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Step up and make projects progress efficiently
- Effectively manage and monitor construction performance and progress
- Interpret designs for construction implementation and contribute to improvements to existing designs
- Project programming and planning
- Effective management of work programs and performance of teams and subcontractors on site
- Manage junior engineers and project co-ordinators
- Work closely with the Project Manager on site when applicable
- Implement H&S procedures and maintain high OHS standards
- Reviewing design packages
- Requesting RFI's
- Assist with preparation of site budgets and reports
- Liaising with key stakeholders
- Maintaining strong client relations
- Provision of contract administration on site and liaising with commercial teams
- Other tasks as required by Smart Nine or the Client
