On behalf of Austral SF Australia, a dynamic and leading company specialising in structural steel, welding works and metal fabrication based in the Kingsgrove, NSW 2208 area, we are conducting a search for an experienced and skilled Civil Engineering Draftsperson.
Current Opening:
This opportunity is a full-time position (38 hours per week).
Position Responsibilities and Tasks
- Prepare detailed drawings, sketches and plans (e.g., site plans, drainage plans, and construction details) based on the senior architect’s designs using CAD software, such as AutoCAD.
- Interpret project specifications and instructions and use appropriate procedures and equipment to meet project requirements.
- Modify existing drawings according to feedback from architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Estimate material quantities and costs for project budgeting purposes.
- Perform and direct fieldwork, conduct site surveys and field measurements and collect and analyse data.
- Conduct tests on construction materials and soils for compaction, moisture content, strength and other relevant characteristics to assess their quality and properties.
- Collect traffic data, including traffic counts and traffic flow patterns, to inform the design of transportation elements within projects.
- Finalise all drawings and ensure they adhere to relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Manage and organise design files for easy access by project team members.
- Monitor project sites as required by the project manager and inspect finished works to ensure they follow contract provisions and specifications in design documents.
- Assess issues on finished projects and organise and supervise maintenance and repair work.
- Research on recent developments in Civil Engineering, drafting technology, and industry trends.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Related Field
- A minimum of two-three years' experience in a similar role.
- Certificate in CAD or Drafting
- Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with engineers, architects, and other professionals.
- Basic mathematical skills are essential for accurately interpreting and creating technical drawings.
- Precision and attention to detail are critical in creating accurate and error-free technical drawings.
Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 - $90,000, plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
