The Roadworx Group has been delivering civil and infrastructure solutions to local councils, government departments, public and private companies for more than 20 years. Roadworx Group is a multi-divisional infrastructure contractor approaching 200 employees and a fleet of more than 170 pieces of plant and equipment. Our commitment to getting the job done, knowledge and ability to solve installation difficulties are the attributes that define us from our competitors.  Due to new projects and additional works we are currently seeking to employ CIVIL Labourers, plant operators and concreters to join our operations team based at Ingleburn.

The successful candidates must be willing to work in a positive team environment. Roadworx have a serious approach to safety, and a strong commitment to safety and environment is essential to be part of the Roadworx Group. We require candidates who are willing to work in a multi skilled role, willing to step outside their comfort zone and challenge themselves.

As an operator/labourer joining this business, you will hit the ground running immediately on major road projects. This will be a challenging hands-on role immersing you straight into road contracting.  Knowledge of civil concrete and asphalt is highly regarded, and the successful candidate must be willing to learn from Roadworx personnel to site and to develop their own knowledge in this area.  The civil crew has a broad range of works from large, upgrades projects to minor maintenance.  Applicants must be able to work nights, and occasional weekend and away from home work. A strong team player attitude is essential.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Have a strong focus on safety.
  • Be a team player and always be willing to assist other team members.
  • Assist in preparation of construction sites for commencement of work activities, including coordination with traffic control and other contractors as well as pre-start requirements.
  • Material loading/unloading from trucks and place in designated locations.
  • Undertake civil labouring activities (excavation, trenching, saw cutting, road base application, cold mix placement, hot mix placement, prepare/strip formwork, concrete works.
  • Laying conduits (electrical/communications/control) in line with approved design plans and specifications.
  • Maintain company plant and equipment in good working order.
  • Provide assistance to clients/principal contractors as needed on site.
  • Tracking own hours of labour on timesheets.
  • Highlight any site issues as soon as they arise to Roadworx management/supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Undertake tasks as directed by team leaders/supervisors/management.
  • Able to work nights.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's):

  • Driver Licence.
  • MR licence (HR/HC licence desirable),
  • VOC/Ticket for Excavator.
  • General construction induction card (white card).
  • Be physically fit and able to lift or move up to 20kg throughout shifts.
  • Ability to frequently sit, climb, reach, and bend throughout shifts.
  • Ability to pass a physical exam on an annual basis, including alcohol and drug screens.
  • Ability to work in outdoor construction environments with moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be able to work without constant supervision as well as within a team.
  • Have good attention to detail.
  • Must have good communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience/References:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience on civil works.
  • Use of excavator experience,
  • Knowledge of formwork construction methods.
  • Knowledge of concrete works, including hand mixing and chute delivery methods for footings, pits, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic tools, such as jackhammers, drills, finishing tools, etc.
  • Two work references from previous employers.
