The Position
Asphaltech have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanentCivil Leading Hand to join the team and work on civil projects within the Perth Metro area. The position reports to the Civil Superintendent and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the team on site.
The works typically encompass the removal and reinstatement of existing kerbs and crossovers, replacement of drainage lids and other miscellaneous works within the road reserve.
The ideal candidate will have experience of leading a civil construction team on site, excellent people management skills, a positive attitude, be able to communicate effectively and able to work unsupervised.
This role will suit an experienced Leading Hand as well as an Operator wanting to make the transition into a more senior role.
Primary Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- With assistance from the Civil Superintendent, set out a plan for each job ensuring all work is completed as instructed.
- Supervise the day-day site operations and ensure all employees and sub-contractors understand the tasks to be completed.
- Complete and record site measurements and site information to report back to the Civil Superintendent.
- Ensure all people management tasks are completed and any issues are escalated immediately.
- Ensure employees complete prestart forms and machinery is operated correctly.
- Ensure all employees understand what is expected for the day.
- Ensure all employees and sub-contractors are always working safely and effectively.
Preferred Experience & Skills
To be successful in this position you should have:
- Have experience working on a civil construction site.
- Have experience of leading a team in the day-to-day operations.
- Experience of operating an excavator looked favourably, but not mandatory.
- A high level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to resolve conflict and manage expectations.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Current Drivers Licence (HR preferred but not essential).
Remuneration Package
- Hourly paid position with penalties.
- Company vehicle with limited private use.
- Company phone with limited private use.
Commencement Date
Immediate commencement.
