Civil Project Engineer

Leading Coal Mining Company requires a Civil Project Engineer for a contract in the Bowen Basin.

Your new company 

An international mining house that is at the forefront of the extraction of coal is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to drive the delivery of infrastructure projects for one their leading coal operations in the Bowen basin.
 

Your new role 

You will manage small & large scale projects and assist with larger projects as required. This team manage a large capital portfolio, including a wide variety of projects, such as civil, environment, water, infrastructure, processing, and procurement. This team includes various backgrounds and skill sets, allowing for a diverse environment.  
In this role you will be responsible for:  

• Assist multiple Project Managers in developing project proposals, business cases and project scopes in line with stakeholder requirements and BHP capital expenditure processes. 

• Problem solving and managing third party engineering designs and ensuring compliance to relevant Australian, BMA and industry standards.  

• Engaging with external stakeholders including relevant councils, SunWater, landholders, and other Mining Companies in the development and execution of the pipeline infrastructure projects. 

• Participate in contract meetings and assist with contractor onboarding and contract management. 

• Assist the Project Manager in preparation of monthly financial reporting and ensuring compliance to project schedule. 

• Assist with quality assurance as part of the overall quality management process for the project.  

• Engaging with key internal BMA stakeholders within the engineering team and across sites and central departments, including maintenance, operations, procurement, water planning, legal, environmental, etc. 

• Supporting the project manager and construction supervisor during execution and in line with the site’s Safety Health Management System (SHMS). 

What you'll need to succeed 

To be successful in this position you will have: 

• Minimum 1 year of demonstrated engineering experience in the construction industry, or other relevant experience. 

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil, Piping Engineering or related Discipline. 

• Experience working as a Project Engineer to deliver large scale civil and piping projects is preferred, with knowledge of relevant Australian and industry standards. 

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a drive to achieve innovative solutions. 

• Willingness to travel to site as required for the project.  

• Strong focus on team culture and continuous improvement, with ability to mentor and develop graduates.
