The City of Marion is in Adelaide's south-western suburbs and is only about 10 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD. 

As one of the largest councils in South Australia we employ approximately 400 employees in our City Services, City Development, and Corporate Services departments and provide a positive customer service experience to our well established residential and industrial areas.

Our City Services Department includes a sizeable, dedicated Civil Services Team that is responsible for undertaking both large and small council-wide Civil Works. This includes substantial road works, footpaths and drainage works along with smaller Civil Works.

At any given time, there may be twelve or more Civil Works on the go through our $15 million approved 2023/24 program and it is anticipated that future programs will continue to be equally if not busier.

As a result of our Civil Services team pursuing an in-house model to fulfil our community-orientated civil services there is now a newly created permanent full-time positions on offer.

Our new Civil Coordinator position includes leadership, planning, and management of our Civil Services area. 

The primary responsibility of this important addition to our Civil Team will be to provide direct support and direction to our Field Supervisors and outdoor employees through ongoing motivation and collaboration in the achievement of key performance indicators focussed on delivery and safety.

As an experienced Civil Works Supervisor, it is also anticipated that in this position you will be able to act as required for our Unit Manager in a busy Civil Works environment.

To be successful in this position it is expected candidates will have proven leadership experience in managing teams in the completion of a Civil Works program either within the civil construction, maintenance industries or from another council.

It is assumed you will have effective communication skills and the ability to maintain solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

A tertiary level qualification in Construction Management or Project Management would be viewed favourably for this role. Proven project management experience and experience in using enterprise IT systems such as MS Project, planning and reporting systems would also be viewed most beneficial.

This is a permanent full-time position based at our modern City Services Depot in Sturt. The successful applicant will be entitled to a salary increase July 1, 2024, per our Enterprise Agreement.
