The Opportunity
An opportunity has become available for an experienced superannuation and group insurance Claims Assessor to join TelstraSuper’s Insurance and Claims team on a 14 Month Fixed Term Contract.
The role involves managing, assessing, and processing Death and Disability Benefit Claims. Additionally, it includes handling the administrative requirements of Death, Total and Permanent Disablement and Income Protection claims for both internally and externally insured claims.
Key responsibilities include:
- Determine information required to assess claims and liaise, where necessary, with the relevant stakeholders, such as employers, insurers, doctors, estate representatives, members and solicitors and members' relatives
- Interpret medical, financial and other information and arrange for medical and other assessments of claimants as required
- Prepare and submit Trustee Recommendations for the Claims Assessment Committee meetings
- Attend Claims Assessment Committee meetings and present claims to the Trustee
- Advise members and representatives of Trustee determination
- Calculate and pay approved claims and assemble relevant documentation for dispatch to claimants in accordance with relevant legislation where a condition of release has been met by the member
- Verify payment of Income Protection benefits including applicable offsets
- Investigate discrepancies as required in calculations and data and resolve discrepancies prior to payment of benefit
- Address insurance and claim inquiries
- Maintain relevant database information
About You
We’re looking for someone with strong knowledge of superannuation law, experience in assessing disability claims, and the ability to communicate effectively with members in vulnerable situations. Experience in a superannuation and group insurance environment is a plus.
Additionally, you have:
- ASFA or Insurance Diploma would be considered favourable
- RG146 Superannuation qualification
- Prior experience with Insurer and/or Trustee operations
