- Provide consumers Police and Magistrates with guidance and support.
- Work with prosecutors to have the mental health assessment completed prior to presenting to the magistrate where mental health, Alcohol or drugs features part of the presentation.
- Build key relationships between police, magistrates, MERIT, prosecutors, and community mental health teams for better consumer outcomes
- Build positive relationships with the aboriginal community by attending community days and being the mental health connection for the community and services to reduce the risk of young aboriginal males in custody.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
- Demonstrated high level clinical experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience working in acute mental health care services. Must be willing to work towards becoming an accredited person (5 years' experience)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the mental health act in accordance with Police and ambulance schedules, cross border arrangements and telehealth applications.
- Demonstrated commitment to participant led recovery principles including rehabilitation on the use of substances.
- Ability to work independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team and actively contribute to clinical care in the constraints of the custodial environment by face-to-face interventions or via the telehealth to other sites including police stations and courts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with a range of key stakeholders, GP’s, non-government organisations, inpatient and community mental health teams, consumers, and carers.
- Demonstrated clear written and verbal communication and negotiation skills including computer skills (MS Office Suite)
- Must have a clean driving license and be willing to travel for work purposes when required.
