We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Clinical Midwifery Educator to join our Birth Unit team full-time on a full-time basis.
The Clinical Midwifery Educator (CME) position will facilitate midwives' clinical skills and practice development within the Birthing Unit, Maternity Services of the Royal Hospital for Women.
The CME will work a rotating roster and out of hours will liaise with the After Hours Nurse Manager at the beginning of each shift.
This position will support mandatory skill development for all staff including agency staff members across Maternity Services and extending to Gynaecological Services within the Royal Hospital for Women.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria * Registered Midwife (Division 1) with AHPRA.
- Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification and clinical experience in high risk maternity settings.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).
- Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge of midwifery curricula and NMC Board requirements for Midwifery Practice and ANMC competencies for registered midwives.
- Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.
- Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems.
