The role of the Clinical Quality Improvement Cardiology (CQIC) is varied with a primary focus on ensuring high quality data at the site level, which ultimately ensures that statistics that are reported by the Queensland Cardiac Outcomes Register (QCOR) accurately reflect the cardiac health of Queenslanders and provides insight into our progress in treating and managing cardiac patients entering our facilities. At a local level this data will be used to support service planning and management, identification of opportunities for cardiac service improvement and increase in transparency of cardiac patient outcomes.

The Clinical Nurse, who has the responsibility for professional leadership in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 and an opportunity to work collaboratively to lead practice changes and clinical innovation, is expected to be able to practice autonomously and provide leadership in clinical decision making.

CQIC skills

  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, both within and between health care disciplines.
  • Ability to engage with staff at all levels to improve data compliance.
  • Consultation with cardiologists to ensure service delivery is consistent.
  • Ability to utilise information and reporting systems appropriate to the position (IMPAX CV, ieMR, EMR, the Viewer, Synapse, Auscare)

CQIC Knowledge

  • Understanding of the cardiac patient journey, expected outcomes and processes.
  • Triage and referral processes for patients entering the SCHHS under cardiology.
  • Knowledge of professional standards, policy and procedure as they apply to the role.
  • Understanding of change processes and management, Quality Improvement, research.

Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $128,057 p.a., comprising salary rates: $52.86 - $56.60 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (NRG6-1) (temporary position available for 12 months, 40 hrs p.f.).
