Clinical Nurse - Catherine's House

Catherine’s House is Australia’s first integrated mental healthcare centre for mothers and fathers to tackle depression, anxiety and other issues experienced by new parents.

We have an exciting 0.9 and permanent position available for an experienced Perinatal Mental Health Nurse looking to join the team! Catherine’s House does 12-hour shifts and we are searching for a nurse who is happy to contribute to the rotating roster including mornings, nights and weekends.

With one in five mums and up to one in ten fathers experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health issues before or after the birth of a child, this new facility will triple the number of public beds in Queensland from 4 to 12 for families in need of perinatal mental health support.

Salary range: $52.63 - $56.38 (RN Level 2) per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinical Nurse, you will:

• Role model high quality mental health nursing care in accordance with the health care mission of the Sisters of Mercy
• Provide high standards of service delivery by ensuring clinical practice is contemporary, individualised, safe, recovery-focused and evidence based
• Provide nursing leadership to the wider team and mentor more junior staff
• Utilise mental health nursing clinical skills within an integrated framework for mothers affected by acute and complex perinatal mental illness
• Care provided will take into consideration the infant and the parent/primary caregiver-infant relationship. This may include access to needed medical, social, educational, vocational, psycho-social and other necessary services as they relate to the mother’s mental health needs, and their recovery

About you

• AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and a current annual practicing certificate
• Are an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) in Queensland or you have worked primarily in a mental health setting for at least two (2) years, thereby enabling you to apply for recognition as an AMHP after completion of relevant training
• The successful applicant will hold or is working towards obtaining specialist mental health nursing and/or perinatal and infant mental health qualifications
• Experience in mental health nursing is essential
• Are a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse with the ACMHN or you are working towards same (desirable)
• Exceptional time management
• Understanding of shift co-ordination
