Access theAbout the roleThe Clinical Nurse - Cervical Screening, is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, nurse practitioners, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of Cervical Screening within a Correctional or Detention setting. This role is for women at Brisbane Womens Correctional Centre, Helena Jones Correctional Centre, and Southern Queensland Correctional Centre.The Clinical Nurse (Cervical Screening) – Prison and Youth Detention Services (PHYDS) provides contemporary clinical leadership and care through the application of best practice principles, education, leadership and portfolio management in the application and role modelling of professional nursing practice standards in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).This role may be eligible for the Queensland Health Attraction Incentive. See link –About youOur ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Advanced clinical knowledge of sexual health and Cervical Screening delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members. Greater than two years clinical experience in corrections, primary health care, emergency or rural and remote health would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
- Demonstrated ability to support and lead quality improvement and research initiatives within the work unit, contributing to the use of evidence based practice to facilitate improved patient outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
