An exciting opportunity exists for the Clinical Nurse Coach - Birthing Services to lead and deliver person centered care at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, via facilitation of the competence and confidence of clinicians.
The Birthing Service at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital provides non-discretionary inpatient and outpatient care to over 3400 women per year throughout the perinatal period. It is a CSCF Level 5 service, which has the capability of caring for women who birth from 29 weeks gestation and operates within the acute setting 7 days per week, 24 hours per day.
The Clinical Nurse Coach framework provides a structured approach to clinical education across the health service and is embedded in the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development, Service Profile. The coach actively engages in the development of a learning culture within the clinical unit and models evidence-based practice at an advanced level relevant to the area of specialty.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being understand to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 6, Band 1 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
