An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to to lead and deliver expert clinical leadership in the provision and coordination of contemporary, person-centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to work as a defined clinical specialist within a dynamic health environment at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Registered Nurse Standards of Practice. The CNC is expected to demonstrate an advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice and decision making in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
The CNC is required to work at an advanced practice level utilising a high degree of knowledge, clinical skills, and experience to promote optimal outcomes for patients presenting to the Emergency Department. The CNC works collaboratively with the other members of the senior nursing team to drive innovation, manage resources, and meet key performance indicators. The CNC represents the Emergency Department in forums and external committees as required at a health service and state-wide level. Together with the multidisciplinary team the CNC helps to ensure the optimal care and safety of all ED patients and staff.
The CNC is responsible for working day to day with the medical and nursing clinical teams managing the department ensuring the safe flow and care management of patients as well as holding responsibilities in relation to ensuring the update of policies procedures and the provision of education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
- Nominated as Medicine Store and S8 Safe Manager as per the Substance Management Plan for SCHHS Regulated Places, as required.
