This position reports to the Nursing Director Primary Health and is responsible for leading and coordinating the infection control activities within the Primary Health portfolio of services across the District Hospitals and Community Health Services. This essential position supports the strategic direction, operational processes and delivery of a high standard of clinical care throughout the Primary Health sites and services. This includes acting as our representative at various regional and state-wide meetings to ensure the provision of expert advice and support from the Infection Prevention and Control perspective.The role of the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Infection Prevention & Control is to:

• Liaise, consult and support the North West Primary Health Services (District Hospitals, Aged Care and Community Health Services) in the development and implementation of infection control policies, practice, programs and education and training programs in conjunction with the Tasmanian Infection Prevention and Control Unit (TIPCU) to provide safe quality patient/resident/client care.
• Identify the learning and support requirements of the Primary Health Services in the North West and, with the support of TIPCU, incorporate these into the National and Statewide initiatives/direction framework.
• Work collaboratively with the Infection Prevention and Control CNC - Mersey Community Hospital and North West Regional Hospital in the delivery of infection control programs throughout the North West.
• Provide the Nursing Director - Primary Health North West with high level quality and authoritative advice and support

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 pro rata per annum
• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023 and Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013

Eligibility:Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse * Working with Aged Care/Commonwealth Home Support Program Check*As required by the Commonwealth Home Support Program and/or the Aged Care Act, occupants of this role are required to undertake a conviction check assessment every three yearsApplicants should note the following criteria are desirable: * Holds or is working towards relevant postgraduate qualificationsThe Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: * Conviction checks in the following areas:

• crimes of violence
• sex related offences
• serious drug offences
• crimes involving dishonesty
• Identification check
• Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
