- Providing expert advice and care to breast cancer patients, their families and other health care professionals on complex issues relating to their health and well-being at various phases of their care.
- Liaising with the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various specialties & subspecialties
- Coordination of procedure/surgery dates for patients who are deemed ready for care
- Tracking patients through their journey to ensure appointments, tests, procedures, surgeries and follow up is attended, in relation to elective procedures and clinic appointments.
- Communication with other internal and external health professionals to provide safe collaborative patient care.
- Establish priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients.
- Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed prior to treatment, assisting/negotiating sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding.
- Screening patients for eligibility to participate in research studies and trials
- Actively participating in Nursing Portfolios - Specialty specific and CSQU Audit Schedule
- Prior experience as Breast Care Nurse will be highly regarded
- Current registration as Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Tertiary qualification (or working towards) in an appropriate speciality which enhances clinical leadership
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
