About the role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) within the acute inpatient setting provides clinical expertise for the ongoing recovery oriented collaboration with consumers, their significant others and the clinical team. The CNC works with the Clinical Nurse Manager (where applicable), Lead Consultant, Nurse Unit Manager to ensure consumers presenting with complex presentations have a comprehensive, collaborative inpatient recovery plan. Provides clinical leadership in the implementation of specific Department of Health and Human Service (the department) initiatives and frameworks that are being led by the Office of the Chief Mental Health Nurse. Contribute towards improved consumer and carer experience whilst maintaining a safe environment for all, inclusive of Safewards, Mental Health intensive care framework and reducing restrictive interventions through facilitation of the ongoing development of clinical practice in inpatient units Ensure daily collaboration and clinical leadership within the Memory Care Area (MCA) utilising huddle approach, ensuring development of safety/recovery/management plans in both MCA and LDU. Collaborate with NUM/clinical manager/ANUMs in the monitoring of clinical risk through VHIMS and in the mitigating of clinical risks. Incorporates practice which aligns with the EH Nursing and Midwifery Practice Guideline, as relevant to the clinical setting. Works collaboratively with all departments and programs both locally and across EH, to support the systems, processes and projects required to ensure efficient, effective and responsive health service operations in line with the organisations strategic direction.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Bachelor of Nursing or other recognised equivalent formal qualification
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA
- Minimum 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience in Mental Health nursing
- Post Graduate qualification in Mental Health nursing preferably at a Masters level
- Demonstrated clinical leadership within Mental Health with proven ability to mentor, develop and sustain the nursing workforce.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership experience
- Previous experience in a similar role or at a senior clinical level is desirable
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
