We specialise in aged and dementia care, palliative care, rehabilitation, mental health services for older people, and other related health and aged care services. The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to contribute to the achievement of HammondCare’s organisational goals by delivering clinical education programs that assist staff in providing high-quality care that is customer-focused. This is a permanent Part-time role 24 hours per week.
The essence of this role:
- Provide educational leadership and clinical guidance to unit staff to foster the development of knowledge and skills in the area of speciality
- Promote a culture of enquiry and learning that facilitates the development of person-centred practice
- Work in partnership with the Nursing Unit Manager (NUM), CNCs, Hammond College and other clinical managers to ensure education activities build and maintain a cohesive clinical team
- Deliver Clinical Nurse education in the unit and provide educational programs based on needs analysis
- Evaluate clinical education programs and report/discuss outcomes with the NUM to ensure effectiveness
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Post Graduate qualification relevant to Mental Health would be an advantage
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or currently enrolled in the program would be an advantage
- Relevant post basic qualifications and or extensive clinical experience in mental health and/or aged care
- Demonstrated skills in developing, delivering and evaluating education programs
- Proven ability to provide clinical leadership and act as a resource person/mentor for nursing staff
- Evidence of initiation/participation in Quality Improvement initiatives
- Experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator or Clinical Nurse Specialist would be an advantage
- Experience managing a team of skilled professionals
- Experience in operating effectively in a multi-site environment
- A current driver's licence and safe driving record. Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services
- Strong administrative and computer skills (using at least Microsoft Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Empathy and patience
- Violence Prevention and Management – Personal Safety and Team Restraint Techniques trainer would be an advantage
- Basic Life Support Workplace Trainer would be an advantage
- Aseptic Technique Workplace Trainer would be an advantage
