The role of a Clinical Nurse General Manager is to lead day-to-day operations, management and administration to deliver on the strategic direction set by the CEO/Director of Nursing in a community nursing company by providing overall leadership and operational management of the services that support the health and wellbeing of our clients in their own homes. The Clinical General manager will create an inspiring workplace by coaching, leading, directing, managing and being a role model to other staff members and by being self-aware and reflective in their work practice.
Key Accountabilities
Leadership and Management
· Develop strategic and operational plans for providing clients with an exceptional home care experience.
· Creates a culture of high-quality home health care and professional standards, ensuring that patients are treated with dignity and that their needs are fulfilled.
· Providing leadership for innovation, change processes, and coordinated responses to growing service and workforce demands.
· Leads and directs the activities of services consistent with corporate objectives.
· Provides effective leadership, coordination, integration and direction in the management of the human, financial and material resources to achieve company objectives.
· Manages and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of the supporting departments through the coordination and communication between the business functions.
· Ensures that the service operates according to the Community Home Support Program (CHSP) guidelines, Aged Care Quality Standards, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC)
· Lead the Human Resources function, including responsibility for HR policies and procedures, contracts, employment standards, recruitment, induction and other human resources activities and responsibilities.
· Maintains responsibility for and develop processes to ensure professional nursing practice and standards of client care are met and advanced including:
o Monitoring of industrial matters that impact on nursing practice.
o Maintenance of appropriate skills mix and numbers of nursing team members.
o Advancement of best practice and quality initiatives.
o Investigation of serious accidents or incidents involving nursing care.
o Significant changes or development in nursing roles and positions
· Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are developed, implemented and regularly reviewed across all areas of the organisation
· Creates and monitors clinical key performance indicators, as well as initiating steps to achieve the criteria.
· Ensure Company practices align with and are maintained current according to the Aged Care Standards and Quality Standards Stipulated by the Department of Health and Aged Care
· Liaison and communication with doctors on all levels regarding patient care planning and prompt escalation of care
· Management of staff rostering and rostering systems to ensure rosters are completed and released in a timely manner
· Take on the role of interim CEO/Director when necessary.
Financial, Administration and Record Management
· Ensure rosters are maintained within allocated budget
· Monitor expenditure and assure budgetary assumptions are met.
· Review documentation to ensure accuracy and all funding opportunities are identified and maximised.
· Preparation of Audits for external Accreditation bodies, including ACHS and ACIS and NDIS, Staff Education and competencies.
· Gain and maintain full knowledge of DVA Guidelines, iCare Guidelines, CHSP Guidelines and other relevant stakeholders
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential
· Registered Nurse with current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA)
· Minimum five years’ experience preferably in a health care or home care setting in a relevant leadership position.
· Experience in rostering and budgeting
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing budgets and financials.
· A strong dedication to excellence and ongoing quality improvement, as well as a thorough understanding of quality concepts and accreditation.
· Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and take actions to meet client needs.
· Superior communication skills both written and verbal.
· Exceptional time management and organisational skills
· Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards
· Proficient in MS Office
· Ability to build and grow relationships
Desirable
· Possession of or significant achievements towards a Post Graduate Course relevant to position.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $100,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
