Senior Project OfficerChild andAdolescent Mental Health Services Reform - Head to Health Kids Tasmania

Head to Health Kids (H2HK) is a joint Commonwealth-Tasmanian Government initiative aimed at establishing a secondary level, early intervention Mental Health program for children 0-12 years and their families.

This is an opportunity to be an integral member of the CAMHS Reform Team and directly support the establishment of innovative and collaborative H2HK services in Tasmania.

You will:

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams and other key partners across education, early years, child health and parenting, paediatrics, and child safety to plan and deliver the H2HK initiative in Tasmania
  • Support and liaise across multi-agency stakeholders and governance groups
  • Assist with service model development and service level agreements
  • Assist with workforce recruitment and onboarding
  • Work with the team to identify and monitor consumer outcomes and an evaluation framework
  • Support and promote H2HK services and operations.

You will have a sound understanding and experience of:

  • Early intervention in Child and family Mental Health as part of a stepped care service delivery model
  • Planning and implementing integrated outcome-focused projects
  • Developing networks and partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to foster positive change management and engagement
  • Producing high level project and program documentation
  • Supporting the implementation of strategic and contemporary practices within a best practice framework with a multi-disciplinary team

What you will be creating:

The national H2HK initiative is being rolled out in Tasmania with three locations to be established, working closely with existing Child and Family Learning Centres (CFLCs) in each region (South, North West and North) and primary school professional support services. The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is a partner in establishing H2HK services in Tasmania.

H2HK will be an integrated secondary level Mental Health service for infants and children aged 0-12 years, and will represent an important addition to a Child and family Mental Health stepped care model in Tasmania. This early intervention service will enable families to access a range of evidence based individual and group interventions for emerging mild to moderate emotional, behavioural, social, relational, and developmental challenges. The H2HK Tas service will work with families, and universal, secondary and tertiary service providers, to provide integrated and holistic care.

The H2HK Tas Service will be operationally and clinically managed by Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). It is being established in partnership with the Department of Education, Children and Young people, regional CFLCs, Professional Support Services, Child and Family Services, and will work closely with other government, non-government, and primary care programs and services.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $124,371 - $130,905 per annum + 11% superannuation

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
