Job description

The role:
  • Administer vaccines and provide appropriate evidence-based information and resources to the Tasmanian community regarding the vaccine program in accordance with national and state regulations, guidelines, and Department of Health (DoH) policy.
  • Practice within legal requirements relevant to vaccination administration, documentation, recording and reporting.
  • Support the coordination of the Vaccination Program within community settings.
  • Provide leadership in the promotion of a learning environment through the delivery of educational activities and resources to both members of the community and the vaccination team as appropriate.
  • Contribute to performance management, quality improvement and service delivery through coordinating quality improvement processes and provide high level support for other members of the team.

The team:
  • The Immunisation Operations Unit (IOU) sits within Public Health Services
  • The casual workforce is shared with the THS statewide upon request.
  • Regular shifts are not guaranteed. The Immunisation Operations Unit (IOU) stands ready to mobilise vaccination clinics on request.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, casual, shift-worker position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible until 31 December 2024

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Location: Hobart, Tasmania
Salary: $103,466 to $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Certificate as a Nurse Immuniser registered with Public Health within Tasmania
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: * Conviction checks in the following areas:
  • crimes of violence
  • sex related offences
  • serious drug offences
  • crimes involving dishonesty
  • Identification check
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
