Where you'll be working
Child Development Service (CDS) team, is situated within the broader NSLHD Child, Youth and Family Primary and Community Health Service. The CDS Team works in partnership with families of young children to undertake specialist (tertiary level) interdisciplinary trauma-informed diagnostic and assessment services for young children with emerging developmental disabilities, and other complex neurodevelopmental conditions.
What you'll be doing
Provide psychological evaluations for young children with a range of developmental disorders, with particular focus on psychometric assessment, complex case formulation, diagnosis and management advice.
The Child Development Service (CDS) is a tertiary multidisciplinary Diagnostic Assessment service for preschool aged children with complex developmental problems. It is the Northern Sydney component of the NSW grid for tertiary diagnostic assessment of children with developmental disabilities. It is a community paediatric service located on the RNSH grounds, with psychologists, social workers and therapists in the immediate team.
CDS works cooperatively with Child &Youth Mental Health, Community Allied Health Therapists, Child Protection Counselling service, Child Youth and Family Health Services. Our focus is on developmental and behavioural disorders, their co-morbidities and the psychosocial factors impacting the family. The service works alongside the Department of Family and Community Services, Depart of Education, various NGO’s and private practitioners.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: * Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology or Educational and Developmental Psychology from an APAC accredited university. Full Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with Endorsement, or working towards Endorsement, in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, or Educational and Developmental Psychology, (or other AHPRA endorsed area of clinical practice in Psychology which the employer deems relevant to the functions of the position, may be considered).
- Demonstrated experience working with children under school age, who have additional needs, developmental disabilities and neurological conditions.
- High standard of proficiency in the administration and interpretation of a range of psychometric and developmental assessments for preschool aged children, including familiarity with the Griffiths Scales of Child Development – 3rd edition (and/or committed to becoming an accredited user of the GRIFFITHS-III).
- Demonstrated competencies in working independently and in a multidisciplinary team environment.
