About the Role
The Department of Infectious Diseases at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity is seeking a Research Manager for the Vaccine Research Group. The role involves managing diverse vaccine studies across all age groups in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, with a high degree of autonomy in operational management and oversight of the multidisciplinary study team. The Research Manager will work under the direction of the Head of the Vaccine Research Group and receive support from Senior Research Fellows/Officers. This role requires you to work up to 4 days onsite based on the business's needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of new clinical vaccine trials in adults.
  • Manage study team (Research nurses, Logistics, Study Doctors), including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop policies, protocols and recruitment strategies for clinical trials.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) and source documents for each clinical trial.

Who We Are Looking For
You will have outstanding oral communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask and manage multiple demands effectively. Your demonstrated ability to liaise with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes is essential.

You will also have:

  • Post graduate qualification in nursing, science, health science or biomedical science or progress towards and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. 
  • Good working knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology, a sound understanding of the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and an excellent knowledge of applicable Australian and international regulations and guidelines.
  • Significant experience with responsible roles in the planning, conduct, coordination or management of clinical trials, including Industry sponsored studies.
  • Experience in data and database management and data collection.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
