Clinical Review Lead

Quality & Safety

Fixed Term Part Time or Full Time – up to 40 hours per week

April 2024 until March 2025 (secondment backfill)

Classification will be dependent upon qualifications & experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the West Gippsland Healthcare Group in the role of the Clinical Review Lead.  Reporting to the Quality & Safety Manager, you will work within a motivated and dedicated team that provides guidance and support to the entire organisation, utilising quality assurance, auditing and incident management practices.

The Clinical Review Lead will have overall responsibility for the organisation’s incident management activities including Clinical Reviews and clinical audits. They will have a key role in overseeing Sentinel Event processes and Statutory Duty of Candour requirements, as well as coordinating medicolegal matters. Accordingly, the role will be responsible for the provision of reports associated with these activities. As a key resource for the organisation, the Lead will have excellent knowledge of the NSQHS Standards.

This stimulating role would suit an experienced nurse (or other suitable health professional) who is flexible, enjoys working within a team and is dedicated to improving the safety and quality of care provided to consumers at West Gippsland Healthcare Group.

Our preferred candidate will have (key selection criteria):

Mandatory:

  • Experience as a health professional and/or management experience in a related field.
  • Degree or other relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing incident management systems and processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of consumer participation and person centred care.
  • Experience with auditing processes and case reviews.
  • Experience with the incident reporting system VHIMS Riskman
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • A thorough understanding and respect for confidentiality requirements.
  • Responsible and mature work attitude.
  • Staff engagement – with particular focus on clinicians and front line staff.
  • Completion of SCV Root Cause Analysis training or willingness to complete.
  • Understanding of Open Disclosure principles and Statutory Duty of Candour

Desirable:

  • Sound knowledge of Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare National Standards
  • Recent clinical experience
  • Sound knowledge of Root Cause Analysis process
  • Ability to analyse audit data
  • Understanding of risk management concepts
  • Knowledge of auditing processes

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully vaccinated (3 doses) for COVID-19 (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
