What You'll Be Doing

Provide a range of administrative and clerical support services, selecting the most appropriate method and sequence to ensure delivery of efficient and effective patient/client focused services. Administrative services include but are not limited to: reception duties; collection and distribution of mail; maintenance of stock as per instructions from Manager; photocopying; preparation of patient lists; attending to PDSU Medicare billing; typing; filing; arranging work requisitions; and ordering and distribution of goods and services as directed.

Undertaking a range of operational and administrative tasks under general instruction and close supervision with discretion in selecting the most appropriate method and sequence, responding appropriately to priority directions from Midwifery and Medical Staff.

Respond to a range of enquiries (in person and over the phone) providing information and referring enquiries in a confidential, effective and responsive manner.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks in a demanding environment, with evidence of previous experience in a clerical capacity.
  • Experience of responding to a range of enquiries and determining the appropriate response in a complex work environment.
  • Demonstrated sound problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing quality service, with a customer focused approach, and commitment to quality improvement initiatives in workplace practices and procedures.
  • Ability to learn and use computer hardware, software applications and electronic systems at a basic level in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • A commitment to the provision of excellent health care services to women.
