Position Description:

Recognised as one of the world's largest IT and business consulting firms, CGI has offices across Australia, supporting local public and private sector clients to solve real business problems. Life at CGI is based on ownership, teamwork, respect and belonging. Here you'll develop your skills, share your insights and reach your full potential.

Reporting to the Delivery Director, the Cloud / Infrastructure Architect role bridges the gap between the solution architect, development team, business team, and project/service management. You will define, validate, and promote the right infrastructure to satisfy business requirements, whilst holding responsibility for delivering growth and change activity.

It's an exciting time to join the team as we have plans to grow and expand this area of the business in the coming years. The role would suit somebody with broad Infrastructure knowledge, Azure or other public cloud design experience, and who is looking to grow in an Architect role with a company focused on career development.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Set and manage stakeholder expectations regarding infrastructure
  • Assess current and emergent technology, advising on value and performance
  • Develop relationships with infrastructure product vendors
  • Align the technology with the business and customer goals, identifying benefits and risk mitigation approaches associated with the proposed solution
  • Apply appropriate technical standards
  • Ensure infrastructure risks are managed, in particular non-functional requirements, including availability, scalability, and performance
  • Support formal and informal technical reviews to ensure the quality of the infrastructure solution design and delivery
  • Own the list of infrastructure concerns and architectural decisions and contribute to the technical risk register
  • Coordinate plans and actions with project managers in Waterfall and Agile methodologies to make the best use of available resources, including specialists such as service architects
  • Own collated infrastructure effort estimates and costs from teams, subcontractors, and suppliers for one or more sub-systems
  • Support the development of team members by knowledge sharing and mentoring
  • Participate in the weekly roster and support for ad-hoc out-of-hours requests.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Demonstrated experience working with public and private cloud (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) and platforms (Linux/Windows)
  • Broad knowledge of Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture such as Cloud provisioning and orchestration, Servers (Linux and Wintel), backups, storage, networks, databases & containerisation
  • Knowledge of Azure is highly desirable with a willingness to develop skills in other cloud architectures
  • The ability to create risk and cost-based solutions to satisfy complex work requests
  • Strong organisational skills; keep track of multiple, complex time-critical activities; attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively with remote and virtual teams
  • The ability to work with technical and business stakeholders with a strong customer focus
  • Full permanent work rights for Australia.
