About UNSW IT and the role:
UNSW IT is part of the Operations Division at UNSW. The IT team at UNSW plays a critical role in enabling the University's teaching, research, and industry engagement. Would you be keen to make a difference and work in higher education ?

The Cloud Service Designer is responsible for designing the end-to-end service delivery process and experience for the cloud platform products and services, considering both technical and business factors. They ensure that the services provided are efficient, effective, and meet the needs of the in-house developers, consumers and other stakeholders.
The Cloud Service Designer plays an essential role in encouraging adoption of the new platform by creating a seamless, client-centric experience for in-house developers. They focus on the integration and interoperability of the entire service ecosystem as well as collaborating with other teams to identify areas for improvement.
The role reports to the Head of Cloud Business Office and has no direct reports.
Who You Are:
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Technology (or equivalent), supplemented with demonstrated success in an IT environment and managing multiple complex projects in a large and diverse organisation and subsequent relevant experience.
- Proven experience in cloud operations, specifically in managing and maintaining cloud based infrastructure and services.
- Experience in service design and process improvement, with a focus on Human-Centered Design principles including Double Diamond design process model.
- Strong understanding of Cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Ability to map and optimise customer journeys and service blueprints, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated experience facilitating effective teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Knowledge of customer research methods and tools, such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to inform design decisions.
- Familiarity with prototyping and visualisation techniques to effectively communicate service design concepts and ideas.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment of service design with overall product vision and objectives.
- Continuous learning mindset to stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in service design and Cloud infrastructure services.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and architectures, with hands-on experience in major cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with security practices and frameworks relevant to cloud environments.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices and relevant certifications in cloud technologies.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and an ability to influence and negotiate at a senior level.
- Familiarity with ITIL, SIAM or other IT service management frameworks.
- Advanced understanding of cloud computing concepts and architectures, with handson experience in major cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Strong capability relating to scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell, Python, or Terraform.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
