ABOUT THE ROLE
The Coach Education Lead – NT will oversee the development and implementation of all coaching accreditation, education, development, pathways, and recognition of coaches in the Northern Territory.
Based in Darwin, the role will support the roll-out of the coaching strategy which incorporates an innovative blended learning approach through online learning, face to face workshops, and support for coaches within their coaching context. The aim is to engage coaches through a variety of new and existing networks and digital platforms and enhancing coaching excellence at all levels of the game.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the Territory-wide (urban, regional, and remote) coaching strategy and plan in consultation with the AFL Coaching team and NT community football stakeholders.
- Plan and implement the education and development of community football level coaches.
- Together with AFL national, manage the accreditation process of all coaches in the NT.
- In line with the national strategy, oversee and execute the higher level of education of talented coaches.
- Support community clubs and leagues and the recruitment and recognition of coaches.
- Together with the community football leadership team, drive best practice standards with respect to coaching related matters in community football.
- Develop processes and structures that ensure development pathways for talented coaches.
- Manage and monitor coaching budgets.
- Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role.
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader Community Football team.
- Leverage partner AFL Clubs of the NT to connect the community with the elite to provide development and aspiration to community football & pathway level coaches.
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies:
- Stakeholder and people connection experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge & skills in the areas of officiating, coaching and administration in sports management.
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills and emotional intelligence.
- Experience in establishing systems and processes to support the development of people and pathways.
- Holds a current higher standard AFL coaching accreditation level (desirable).
- Has completed tertiary education in one of the following fields: sports coaching, sports management, Sports Science, or other (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in planning, leading, and delivering curriculum of a program aligned to the business’ broader objectives.
- Ability to educate and influence multiple and diverse stakeholder individuals and groups.
