Our Energy Minerals Division provides high-quality, independent coal analysis and services to many Australian and international coal companies. We have NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing all major coal ports in Australia and have significant involvement with the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites / power plants and borecore evaluation.
Job Description
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Provide and maintain high quality, accurate and timely work.
- Perform duties of all routine shipping and exploration project sampling, preparation and analysis.
- Ensure everyone is aware of the safety environment.
- Assisting with preventative maintenance and calibration of preparation equipment.
- Prioritisation of urgent samples and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Operation of analytical, manual analytical and preparation equipment.
- Compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems.
- Contributing to a safe workplace by conducting risk assessments, addressing hazards, and implementing improvements.
- Maintain a high standard of general housekeeping.
- At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Qualifications
SGS is looking for candidates who come from a fast-paced background. Successful candidate will possess the following:
- Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferred, but not essential
- Good computer skills, Excel proficiency beneficial and previous experience with data management programs (highly regarded)
- Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred, nut not essential
- Ability to work on shifts and rosters
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and under pressured deadlines
