The JBS Cold Store facility is strategically located in Hemmant near the Brisbane port and employs approximately 140 people. Hemmant receives a high volume of truck and container loads of product from all the JBS sites around Australia, these are then re-loaded for our domestic and international customer' orders and readied for transport.
About the Role
The JBS Hemmant Cold Stores is currently recruiting an experienced Cold Stores Manager to join the team in full-time capacity. This role is ideal for any logistics or supply chain leaders looking to further develop their leadership skills with a global leader in the manufacturing industry.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining control of all aspects of the department's operations from product receival to despatch
- Ensuring that all goods are handled in accordance with the Export Control Act, EC(MMP)O's and associated notices
- Ensuring adequate staff, facilities and equipment are made available to carry out the day to day requirements
- Understanding and enforcing the requirements of each of the SOP's that are relevant to this department
- Reporting any damage, malfunction to buildings, plants and equipment
- Reviewing any external and internal audits reports and ensuring correcting action is taken to prevent any non-conformities from recurring
- Ensuring the completion of AQIS documents as detailed in the Security Program is accurately performed
- Undertaking random checks that the security of official documents is maintained
- Reporting any serious deviations of the security program including the loss of AQIS seals and or MTC's
- Reporting any major breakdowns in refrigeration (as per Meat notice 2001/19)
- Ensuring that a FSQAO and backup are available at all times during operating hours
- Attending monthly management meetings as required
- Ensuring corrective action is taken to rectify repeated defects noted during Management Reviews or audits
- Promoting best workplace practices
- Previous experience in a similar leadership role within a cold store/distribution environment
- Strong business acumen and financial management knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to provide situational leadership
- Ability to identify basic cause & effect relationships
- Ability to respond calmly in difficult situations whilst maintaining a strong customer service focus
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task
