Having recently invested in a new manufacturing facility as well as new ERP systems and reporting the next goal is to focus on cost and pricing management.
The Role:
Consequently, the need for a new and exciting Commercial/Financial analyst role has been identified. As a Commercial/Financial Analyst you'll dig deep into cost management principles, collaborate with diverse teams, and champion problem-solving to drive the business forward. Reporting directly to the CFO, but working alongside and, hand in hand, with the engineering, procurement and sales and marketing teams you will be key to ensuring product margins are maintained and opportunities for improvement in performance are identified and achieved.
The initial emphasis of the role will be to ensure all areas of the manufacturing process are correctly costed and pricing remains competitive. However, a focus on ensuring margins are maintained or even improved will be crucial.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor and analyse manufacturing costs, identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost optimisation.
- Work with the engineering, procurement, and finance teams to gather data on materials related to the manufacturing process.
- Advise Sales and Marketing of product cost profiles, target sell prices and gross margins, as well as report on same.
- Provide commercial advice to Sales and Marketing on larger tenders/projects.
- Develop and maintain cost tracking and reporting systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date cost information.
- Prepare regular cost reports, variance analysis, and performance metrics for management review.
- Assist in developing standard costs to ensure consistent and accurate cost allocation across various products.
- Provide ad-hoc costings for new or special projects/products.
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact cost management.
- Practice your ‘duty of care’ at all times to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as directed by your manager to support the overall goals and success of the organisation.
What you will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Engineering, or other related fields
- 2-5 years of proven experience in cost control, cost analysis, or related roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
- Proficiency in using financial software, ERP systems (Epicor experience is desirable), and advanced MS Excel functions for data analysis and reporting. Experience with Power BI is advantageous
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
