The Role
The Commercial Analyst will be accountable for analysing and driving the financial performance and operations of Covalent, providing insights and recommendations to improve efficiency, profitability, and growth across the entire value chain.
The Commercial Analyst works closely with senior management, finance, and other business units to identify and solve complex business problems, generate business cases, conduct decision evaluation, and develop financial models and forecasts.
This is a permanent full-time position working from our Kwinana Head Office, with support for flexible working arrangements including access to our Perth CBD Office and working from home arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the execution of strategic initiatives through financial analysis, input to business cases and improving financial acumen across the business.
- Support the Business Planning Process (5YP, forecasts and annual budget) to ensure that deliverables are delivered in full and on time.
- Develop financial models for new and existing opportunities at different project stages and be a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate business opportunities, risks, and challenges.
- Prepare and present clear and concise reports and presentations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with finance and operational departments to understand drivers, data, and reporting needs.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, industrial engineering, business administration, or related field.
- 3 years’ experience in a Commercial Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar position.
- Familiarity with corporate finance and management accounting principles and practices.
- Self-starter with a pragmatic and ‘can do’ attitude to problem-solving, articulating, and providing solutions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Resilient, enthusiastic, ability to work autonomously, take initiative and reliably deliver on tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and a passion for problem-solving.
- Personal competencies including critical thinking, ability to navigate ambiguity, integrity, perseverance, execution skills and openness.
- Experience in a mining, refining or industrial environment is desirable but not required.
