Commercial and Property Solicitor

WMG Legal is the largest Gungahlin based law firm having now been in operation in the local area for more than 10+ years. We are a growing office which continues to expand. We have a strong reputation for providing sound legal advice and great customer service.

About the role 

The role is flexible, but requires at least 1 - 3 years of post-admission experience. You will ideally have a solid grounding in general practice. This role will see you practising in a variety of property and commercial matters, including general commercial litigation as well as assisting in property/conveyancing and leasing.

The role will suit someone who is confident, has the ability to take direction and run with it, can work independently and wishes to take carriage of their own matters, is a self-starter willing to work hard.  

About you

This is a great opportunity for a driven and talented lawyer to develop their legal skills, and excel in a friendly and cohesive team. 

The successful candidate will work closely with other solicitors, assisting to:

  • draft Court documents, including originating processes, pleadings, subpoenas, and affidavits;
  • draft correspondence, including letters of advice, and letters of demand;
  • draft Agreements, including Sale of Businesses, Loan Agreements, Leases (etc.);
  • liaise with counsel and with clients;
  • complete legal research;
  • attend meetings with clients including conveyancing matters; and
  • attend Court, either to appear or to instruct Counsel.

Requirements 

  • At least 1-3 years post admission with some experience in commercial  and Property matters.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Highly motivated individual who can work effectively independently as well as in a team.
  • Must exercise independent judgement, being able to assess each task on its circumstances and tailor legal documents as appropriate.
  • Have strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills
  • Be looking to continue building your own professional profile.
