Commercial Finance Manager
Chiswick, West London (1-2 days per week) Hybrid
About the role
This is a new and exciting role to be the lead day-to-day Commercial Finance partner for the Subscription part of the business.
Reporting into the Senior Commercial Finance Manager, the role involves the creation and provision of commercial and financial information for the subscription business line to support effective decision-making.
You will lead the business planning process (including 5-year plans, budgets, and forecasts) for the subscription area and to perform a variety of other activities ranging from month end process, commission planning and calculating for our sales teams.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Commercial Finance:
- Continue and improve on the existing best-in-class FP&A support given to our Subscription teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse and assess commercial opportunities.
- Evaluate pricing strategies, profitability, and market trends to drive revenue growth.
Budget Management:
- Oversee the budgeting process for the business line, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Computing and commenting on variances, giving insight to report recipients.
Commissions:
- Help to prepare targets and commission schemes for the year, with input from other internal business groups (sales, reward, HR).
- Heavily involved in the calculation of actuals, collaborating with the sales teams as well as senior management.
Month End:
- Preparation, checking and posting monthly journals: on both revenue and costs.
- Subscription sales analysis - being able to manipulate and understand financial and sales data to accurately report sales performances in the month and year-to-date.
- Reconciling Balance Sheet accounts.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Ideally a Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA), with +2 years post qualification experience
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role with any experience in subscriptions and sales teams is ideal for this role
- Strong technical skills including Excel and General Ledger experience (SAP preferred)
- Numerate and analytical with the ability to work with complex data sets
- Confident, capable, and credible with effective communication, influencing and persuasiveness skills
- Knowledge of Salesforce, SAP, Tableau, Power BI, and Oracle preferred
