Wood is currently recruiting for a Commercial Lead role to be based in our Melbourne office.
With minimal supervision, performs full range of commercial activities from input to proposals, preparation and negotiation of commercial models, general post award administration and contract commercial close out activities.
Supports regional Commercial Manager with delivery of commercial reporting to corporate function and ensure all commercial procedures are followed and reviewed. Support with the implementation and delivery of key policies and procedures including the Financial Management Framework and Tender Governance Procedures.
At a high level, the job objectives will be:
- Maximise commercial performance while managing business/project risks (pre- and post- contract)
- Commercialisation of sub-Business Group service offering to support business growth and
- strategy
- Ensure compliance with relevant commercial/contracting policies
- Resolution of disputes/claims and cash collection issues
- Embedding effective commercial governance and assurance across the sub-Business Group / Project / Portfolio of Projects
Supporting the tender governance process for the sub-Business Group
- Promotion of safe working practices within commercial function
- Leads pre-award activities including support to the proposals team in terms of performing a commercial review of tender documents, reviewing commercial proposals prior to submission for internal approval, preparing pricing and commercial qualifications
- Leads all activities within the tender governance within assigned business
- Compliance with Woods commercial policies, processes and procedures within the assigned business
- Lead negotiation of commercial models and terms & conditions with clients
- Development, implementation and maintenance of project commercial plans including commercial strategy, subcontracting commercial strategy, financial management framework and profit improvement plans
- Post award admin including ensuring that invoices are prepared in a timely and accurate manner and include full contract entitlement, ensuring commercial models and scope of delivery are understood by the contract management team, rate reviews are completed, change is captured in contract variations/amendments and commercial administration files are established and maintained
- Develop strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, including regional leadership
- Mentors and develops commercial personnel
- Prepares monthly commercial management reports
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies, along with appropriate professional
- qualification (preferred)
- 6-10 years' experience in a similar role
- Experience in negotiation, claims & dispute resolution
- Proven experience in contract administration including change management
- Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation
- Ability to prioritize key tasks and solve problems for the team
- Ability to mentor and coach direct reports
