About the role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial, Sales and Customer - Bulk & IMEX, The Commercial Manager will lead and support the planning and execution of contract negotiations in the Bulk and IMEX business.
The Commercial Manager is expected to combine technical knowledge, product knowledge, strategic thinking, and commercial acumen and negotiation skills to retain existing customers and grow the Bulk and IMEX business, whilst ensuring the best financial outcomes for the business.
The role will be accountable for:
- Lead and support in planning and execution of contract negotiations
- Mentor and support sales/account managers to lead contract negotiations, variations, additions, and changes of scope where commercial requirements have complex financial or contractual implications.
- Work closely with commercial solutions, operations, and finance to ensure commercial risks are identified and appropriately addressed contractually.
- Draft contract summaries for new contracts to ensure operations, customer service and finance understand contractual obligations and billing requirements.
- Work closely with our Commercial Solutions, Operations and Commercial Legal departments to review and sign off departures for new contracts for negotiation.
- Work with Commercial Solutions to ensure internal approvals accurately reflect proposed or agreed commercial terms and are prepared in a timely manner.
- Work with sales/account managers to ensure contract terms align with customer requirements and PN operations.
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager with proven experience in a commercial role, preferably within a complex business environment. You will have excellent financial modelling, contractual, legal, and commercial knowledge, experience, and skills. Experience within Transport, Logistics, Mining, or related field will be highly regarded.
In addition, we are seeking:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, or related discipline essential.
- MBA / Post Graduate qualifications in Business Law highly regarded.
- Excellent financial modelling, contractual, legal, and commercial knowledge, experience, and skills.
- Excellent planning and co-ordination skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills to coach and mentor sales/account managers in commercial negotiations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple activities, priorities, and deadlines.
- Advanced computer skills including strong use of analytical and reporting tools.
