Strandline is seeking an experienced and driven senior commercial and procurement professional to become our new Commercial Manager. This role has become available due to a recent internal promotion and is based out of Strandline’s Head Office in the Perth CBD.
The role:
- Lead the Commercial team to ensure the transactional functions operate effectively and align with achieving the company’s strategic direction.
- Hands on management of a portfolio of procurement agreements (from small to large value and higher-risk agreements).
- Lead negotiations and provide strategic direction with regards to the development, implementation and management of contracts to support the project.
- Provide support, guidance, and advice for commercial issues to project teams.
- Compile agreement documentation, recommendations for award and manage variations.
- Effectively manage contractor relationships in an efficient and professional manner.
- Overseeing assessment of contractor claims to ensure compliance with budget requirements.
- Communicate and interact with all levels within the organisation, including site and core functional areas (e.g. operations management, finance, legal, purchasing and accounts).
- Identify and create opportunities for cost reduction and value add in all agreements.
- Manage project and enterprise risk and opportunities by proactively having input into mitigation and contingency plans to manage risks and performance to an acceptable level.
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with internal and external resources and other project participants to achieve strong technical and commercial outcomes.
- Provide input, as required to continuously improve relevant procurement practices, standards, policies and procedures relating to project implementation.
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or other associated disciplines.
- You will have extensive experience in commercial, procurement and contract administration gained in mining operations, construction, engineering or associated projects.
- You will have several years’ experience in a commercial management role.
- Advanced skills in developing and establishing procedures for project contract administration, general business administration and project management.
- Reporting and compliance with respect to commercial performance and legislation/code to prevent potential business exposure.
- Advanced skills in project revenue and cost forecasting processes.
- Demonstrated skills in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
- A willingness to travel to site as required. Our Coburn site is located in the Shire of Shark Bay WA.
