About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have a rewarding opportunity to join us as a Commercial Manager on our Capability Enhancement and Integration Project (CEIP) within our line of business. Using your strong commercial experience you will be managing significant commercial issues and leading commercial negotiations along with driving the implementation of BAE Systems commercial policies and practices and the assurance of adherence to functional governance requirements.
This role can be based out of our Garden Island or Liverpool St offices in NSW. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage contract activities including negotiation of contract change and management of claims
- Ensuring that the business's financial and commercial exposures are addressed through appropriate commercial contract frameworks such as export controls, finance, product safety (including insurance) and intellectual property rights
- Supporting all contract activity including the drafting and negotiation of complex terms and conditions
- Driving BAE Systems' commercial policies and practices, including the assurance of adherence to functional governance requirements
- Drafting moderately complex contracts / agreements with little supervision
- Ensuring compliance with Export Control requirements
- Responsibility for ensuring that contract activity is undertaken in accordance with BAE Systems Australia Operational Framework and relevant business unit commercial processes including Life Cycle Management and Request for Bid Approval
- Undertaking contract interface with customers
- Preparing negotiating strategies and leading negotiating teams
You'll have:
- Significant experience in a Commercial role preferably in Defence or engineering organisations
- Sound commercial acumen with an ability to influence stakeholders whilst maintaining key relationships
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with an ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements
- Degree Qualifications – preferably in business, commerce, law or similar discipline
- A willingness to support the development of junior colleagues
- An ability to lead and guide a team or work independently with little supervision and guidance using your own experience, judgement and initiative
- Computer literacy with advanced knowledge of MS Suite along with SharePoint
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
