About the Role

Join the team today as our Commissioning Technician - Mechanical, reporting to the Development Team Leader Cooper Basin, plays a crucial role in overseeing the commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems within upstream wells and gathering facilities in the Cooper Basin.
This role plays an essential role, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of machinery and equipment, focusing on maintaining optimal functionality, safety, and reliability prior to handing over to Operations.
The role is responsible for all isolations and permitting of the construction work. The position involves regular monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment to minimize downtime and support the company's production and operational goals.
Accountabilities for this position are:
- Comply with all Life Saving Rules and incur no breaches.
- Ensure all commissioning and maintenance activities meet industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and execute commissioning plans for mechanical systems in upstream wells and gathering facilities.
- Conduct thorough functional and operational testing to ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and project teams to understand and fulfill commissioning requirements and protocols.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor and report on equipment performance, making recommendations for improvements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams.
- Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning and maintenance reports, documenting test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Assist in the development/ updating of standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a close working relationship with Operations and Maintenance personnel, as well as Production Controllers and other interfacing departments.
- Participate in emergency response activities as required.
- Provide on the job training to other personnel/ mentor apprentices and new starters and share knowledge.
About You
Professional Experience
Desired experience for this position includes:
- Familiar with Permit to Work processes & equipment isolations (lock out, tag out).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components, with proven fault-finding experience.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards in the oil and gas sector.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications pertaining to mechanical equipment.
- Competent use of Information Systems (Computer Software, including Microsoft Office suite)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration within a team setting.
- Hold a valid driver's license and demonstrate readiness to travel to remote locations as necessary.
