Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Committees Officer to join Governance and Performance, Administrative Division.

The Committee Services unit within G&P is responsible for providing secretarial services to QUT Council and its committees, including University Academic Board, and other management committees such as the Executive Leadership Team. Committee Services coordinates the flow of information and business through the committee system and provides an information service on committee decisions.The Committees Officer will provide advice and assistance to senior officers and committees, and will interact with organisations and individuals external to the University as required.This position reports to the Committees Manager for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

Governance and Performance (G&P) is responsible for a range of administrative functions and provides committee services to Council and university-level committees in support of decision-making. 
G&P provides support to governance and compliance activities, including right to information and privacy, records management, and the development and review of university policies and administers the University’s integrated planning process, reports on corporate performance (key performance indicators), and manages institutional rankings. 
G&P provides guidance on quality activities as they relate to the national regulator (the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency), including managing compliance with mandated higher education standards..

What you need to succeed

1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree with at least four (4) years’ subsequent relevant work experience.
2. Advanced written communication skills including the ability to draft complex correspondence, submissions, reports, meeting agendas and minutes with a high degree of accuracy.
3. Highly developed interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people, in particular, at senior levels, in a professional manner, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
4. Demonstrated experience in committee servicing, policy and procedures drafting and the preparation of briefing papers and reports at a senior level, by applying knowledge of the governance context in which committees operate.
5. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective and cooperative member of a team in a dynamic and flexible environment with a creative and analytical approach to problem solving.
6. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to new demands and unexpected challenges at short notice and to work under pressure with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and goals and produce work with a high degree of accuracy.
