Communications and Engagement Officer
Government Contract role
Location: Perth CBD (main base)
Rate: $70.71 p/hr plus super
Our client is currently look to fill Communications and Engagement Officer role, which will focus on developing and implementing communication and Engagement campaigns and activities for METRONET projects.
Core duties and responsibilities:
Provides a key support service to METRONET projects which involves developing, implementing, and managing Communications and Engagement campaigns to communicate the projects’ importance to internal and external stakeholders.
This includes:
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with officers and project managers to enable an ongoing exchange of ideas about communication and Engagement issues and opportunities associated with large infrastructure projects.
- Develops Communications and Engagement plans.
- Coordinates Communications and Engagement activities of METRONET projects with contractors.
- Coordinates the production of Communications and Engagement material including publications, multimedia and audiovisual materials to ensure consistency with policies and style guidelines.
- Identifies communications opportunities, undertaking research for communications enquiries, and preparing communication releases, background information and speech notes.
- Prepares government briefings and communications responses.
- Coordinates communications activities with relevant stakeholders.
- Identifies and liaises with project stakeholders as required.
- Responds to and logs enquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Identifies and works with the project team to resolve issues affecting stakeholders, residents, businesses and other community members.
- Liaises with Department stakeholders and corporate communications team to provide constructive input.
- Identifies and implements process improvements within the scope of the position’s responsibilities.
- Maintains a commitment to self-development.
- Contributes to the development of the Division’s Business and Communications Plans.
Selection Criteria
- Significant communication and Engagement experience with expertise in delivering project engagement and communications activities, including:
- A proven ability to deliver a broad range of communications, including print, online, social media and face-to-face, to effectively meet objectives concisely and clearly.
- Experience in responding to workplace enquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner. o Well developed computer skills.
- The ability to negotiate and liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including a demonstrated ability to:
- Manage issues.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to work both with autonomy and within a team.
- Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills.
- Well developed organisational skills, including prioritising competing demands to meet required deadlines
- Satisfactory completion of required medical examinations to verify physical fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Provision of a current National Police Clearance certificate, dated 3 months or less from the date of application for the position
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours enquiries.
- Possession of a current Western Australian ‘C’ class driver’slicense or equivalent.
