About the Role
Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Communications and Social Media Advisor role serves as a central point for organisational communication, providing strategic advice on communication and Social Media engagement. This position collaborates closely with internal teams, particularly the Communications and the Activations and Education Team, to ensure seamless integration of Social Media support for education programs. With a keen focus on engaging both the community and industry stakeholders, this role operates within the dynamic and fast-paced environment of Safe Transport Victoria.
The responsibilities of the Communications and Social Media Advisor will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the several Social Media pages for ST Vic, including working with designers and videographers on content creation, scheduling, and monitoring across various platforms to ensure consistency and effectiveness in reaching target audiences.
- Serve as the focal point for Social Media within ST Vic, offering support to the wider business in promoting education programs and engagement efforts, fostering collaboration and cohesion in communication endeavours.
- Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills and effective communication, both written and verbal, to provide clear and concise communication to internal and external stakeholders, fostering effective collaboration and mutual understanding.
- Provide broader communications support, including but not limited to internal Communications and media. This may involve drafting external newsletters, announcements, and coordinating events aimed at engaging external stakeholders such as partners, clients, and the broader community.
- Ensure all communication efforts are aligned with organisational goals. Support a culture of transparency and engagement within the organisation, ensuring all employees are informed and aligned with organisational goals and initiatives.
- Promote and support safe, inclusive, and flexible team operations.

About You
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Communications and Social Media Advisor to spearhead our communications activities while leading Safe Transport Victoria’s Social Media strategy. The ideal candidate will have significant Social Media experience, including analytics and the ability to resolve complex queries in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated experience using databases and software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Canvas and PowerPoint is required. Adobe creative knowledge with the ability to produce multimedia content is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Communications qualification and/or significant industry experience is highly desirable.
