About the role
Statutory Authority seeks an experienced Media and Communications Advisor with a focus on Social Media and website management for full-time, 3-month contract office-based in Melbourne CBD. As the Media and Communications Advisor, you will develop and execute strategic communications strategies, as well as develop and manage high quality and relevant Social Media content across multiple channels in alignment with its Communications strategy.
The position requires a keen eye for detail, ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects, and be a confident communicator.
Responsibilities and duties
Key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Developing external communication strategies and engagement activities (including events) to meet quality standards and timelines.
- Work closely with the broader Media and Communications teams to create, deliver, and publish content across all social platforms in line with department objectives and the Social Media strategy.
- Identify creative opportunities to promote campaigns, announcements, projects, research, and initiatives and adapt Social Media content to be used across channels.
- Contribute to the Social Media teams' content planning by regularly reviewing the content calendar to identify opportunities.
- Monitor the department's Social Media channels to provide daily Social Media reporting to the division and actively track and escalate issues relevant to department.
- Use the departments Social Media management and social listening tools to provide insight that informs and shows clear analysis of issues, topics, content, and campaigns.
Skills and Experience
Skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
- Demonstrated understanding of strategic communications and Social Media, as part of wider communication campaign.
- Demonstrated experience preparing Social Media content to foster audience growth and engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in reporting on and interpreting Social Media analytics and understanding trends to foster organic growth.
- An understanding and experience in Social Media community management is highly desirable
- Sound written communication skills that can adapt depending on the audience.
- Flair for writing Social Media copy including creative ideation
- Understands the importance of proofreading and attention to detail for Social Media
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Digital communications, Social Media, and/or equivalent experience gained from working in a government environment
