We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiatic and passionate Chef/Cook to join our Grampian Therapeutic Community located Ballarat East on a permanent part-time basis working 25 hours per week.
The opportunity
Directly accountable to the Team Leader, the Chef/Cook is working within the community to provide meals of the highest quality in accordance with our Program. As the Community Chef/Cook you will be responsible for and not limited to:
- Provide seasonal meals in line with the Windana menu
- Assist and guide residents during meal preparation and cooking with hands-on support and application
- Manage food quality, portion control and presentation for special events including community events and formal occasions
- Work collaboratively with members of the team and residents of the program
- Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness.
The person we're looking for will have:
- Demonstrated experience working as a Chef/Cook and preparing meals, preferably in a residential setting
- Sound knowledge of the Food Safety Guide and regulations
- A passion for cooking and creating hearty, healthy meals
- Hands on leadership approach and ability to foster safe spaces, creativity and respect
- Excellent organisational skills, communication skills and the ability to work within a team
- Trade qualification and/or extensive experience in a comparable role
- An understanding of financials i.e. budget control and inventory management.
