This position requires the successful candidate to hold, or be willing and able, to obtain a Baseline security clearance.About the PositionReporting to the Executive Director, Enabling Services, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has responsibility for leading a small team with responsibility for the Fair Work Commission’s (the Commission’s) financial compliance, planning and management.The CFO’s responsibilities are part of the core enabling functions of the Commission, supporting effective service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.Duties
- Manage and oversee the Commission’s payroll functions (which include the remuneration of statutory appointments and pensioners), and other major organisational projects (including office accommodation, delivery of ICT projects, and business transformation).
- Maintain excellent working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Commission’s Senior Management Group and other APS agencies, particularly the Department of Finance, and external and internal auditors.
- Managing the Commission’s travel process.
- Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
- Provide specialist strategic advice and guidance on major commitments or projects.
- Manage the Commission’s property portfolio including lease negotiations and building maintenance.
- Support the development of New Policy Proposals (NPP), machinery of government changes, and engagements with strategic partners within the industrial relations sector.
- Provide specialist and strategic advice to the General Manager, Executive team and senior management on financial risks and performance, financial management and the development of budgets and resource allocations, and contribute as a member of the Major Investments Committee.
- Lead a culture of innovation to enhance the governance and financial management frameworks through the application of and transition to digital platforms.
